Opening in early 2010, Pepe Caldo is owned by the friendly and energetic couple: Michael and Charity. You can taste the love they put into the meals they cook, only using fresh ingredients, and sprinkling a little extra on for good measure after your pizza is out of the oven. The sauce is good, but the pizza itself could use a more generous amount of it. The pizza crust itself is delicious, a little oily and a soft texture, with a decent thickness unless you request a thin crust. You may also order your pie extra crispy, or as Michael likes to call it: burnt. They make some delicious salads as well, and most if not all of their dressings are made in-house. Their caesar is different but in the most absolutely amazing way. The fact that "Pizzeria" is in the name of the restaurant shouldn't fool you into thinking that is all that they serve as the menu has a wide range of other tasty choices, not necessarily confined to pizza or even Italian food in general. Don't see something on the menu that you have a craving for? No problem, because in most cases they will improvise and make it for you anyways provided they have the ingredients on hand. Be sure to call ahead for your order if taking it to go. Its only the two of them at Pepes, and sometimes only one of them is available because the other is out on deliveries, so it can take a while. But who knows, if the wait is too long perhaps you'll be rewarded for your patience with a free scrumptious desert of some sort as I was. When it comes down to it, Pepe Caldo is not one to disappoint, and will only get better with age.

Great pizza, reasonable pricing, good, fast service. Everyone is super friendly and down to earth. We love the white sauce with extra garlic.

Great unassuming place. Kids had pepperoni and sausage and we had Taxarkana Hannah (one their "specialty pizzas"). Both were quite good and I'm not easily impressed when it comes to pizza. Staff was very nice. Being from out if town this was a pleasant unexpected find.

If they only do dining in, that's cool. That's fine. I don't expect Joel Robuchon to deliver pate to my house either, but if they SAY that they deliver, and SAY that they do carry out, I EXPECT THEM TO ANSWER THE EFFING PHONE. I called eight times around 8 PM on a Friday (over a 20+ minute period) and 7 out of the 8, I got a message saying that they were either closed or busy. The eighth time I called I got something or someone that said they appreciated my persistence but that they were too busy to want my business. I'm not entirely sure whether the last time was an actual person (it didn't sound like it), that recognized my CID and was telling me to go frigg myself, or if it was another recording (Perhaps on a system that is sophisticated enough to recognize repeat callers, but I didn't wait around to find out, I just hung up), but to be honest I don't really care. Don't say that you do carry out or deliver if, effectively, you don't. If you DO want to do carry out and delivery, hire another person and/or buy a phone system that's actually capable of handling calls. It's that simple. tldr: Pepe Caldo's can kiss my broad, white buttocks. Do not eat there. Drive by and throw an egg at their window.

This is the only pizza that I have eaten or the next day I don't feel like crap. They use quality ingredients and the pieces are always incredibly good. If you're looking for a good take out pizza this is definitely the place in Coeur d'Alene to go if you truly love a good pizza and good food.

We found this place on yelp and decided to go due to the great reviews. We walked in to a pizzeria/skateboard shop with no physical divider. We were very apprehensive but the owner was so nice and hospitable that we decided to stay. The pizza was indeed fabulous. Nice crisp crust and fresh ingredients. The pizza is worth the visit but maybe do take out if you like nicer surroundings. The owners were super nice, even threw in our drinks for free. I'll definitely be back for some of their great pizza. I can't emphasize enough on how good this pie is. That is if you like a nice cheesy pizza with a New York style crisp crust, fresh ingredients and served piping hot. Also, ask about the secret menu, ie pulled pork tacos, burgers, pulled pork sandwich. They will definitely bend over backwards to makes you happy. This is definitely on of those hole in the wall places people like to brag about and only let their closest friends in on.

We tried to go here, but we left utterly confused. We showed up at 8pm, thinking the menu listed online was correct, to find only pizza (no pasta or salad on the board). Not to mention the awkward skate shop, or whatever was going on. It was weird from the moment we pulled in to the parking lot, we weren't sure if it was open, if we were at the right place. It's sad because the reviews said the pizza is so good, but we were looking for the items listed on the menu.

This place is Amazingly good! The people were very friendly! We ordered a Texarkana and they were nice enough to make small two slice section of the pizza with sausage and marinara for my daughter. The pizza was made with fresh ingredients and Service was quick. The other unique thing about this place is that they had skate board selection to buy from! Wish this place was in California because we would definitely be regulars!

The atmosphere is so much fun. Great music and the skate shop is a fun twist. The service was AMAZING. We were repeatedly checked on for drinks and any needs. The pizza is delicious, too. Highly recommend.

I wouldn't change a thing about this place. The food is amazing, prices are fair and the owners are incredible people. Best pizza in town, hands down. I always ask the owner to surprise me and make something fun and I am never disappointed. Order well in advance if you want delivery on a Saturday night.

Went here after going to silverwood theme park. It was about an hour until closing time, but the owners were extremely friendly and generous. We got free mini breadsticks and also an extra topping for our custom made originally 4 topping 16in pizza (fed 5 people, with about 3 pieces each). Free sodas and even snapped a pic for their Facebook page. Definitely going back if we visit Idaho again!

Found by accident when we were wandering around looking for a pizza snack. Family run business. Michael and Charity are gracious hosts. We ordered a large pizza. Under $20. Great price we thought for super tasty pizza. This ain't no big chain store pizza. Flavourful toppings and the crust was fabulous. Crispy thin bottom and airy crusty edge. Only a couple of tables for sitting in to eat but we had a great time visiting with the owners and their kids. Only a few blocks from the downtown area so its a quick trip and really worth it. We will be back next time we are in town.

Super awesome vibes and great pizza! The owners were super hospital. The wait was very short considering they built the pizza before your eyes.

One of those pies to write home about. Really good stuff and the folks were super nice! We loved it!

I have only been here once, but will be coming back again. Ordered a large Pepe's Cali Adventure (subbed spinach for mushrooms) and this pizza was divine! Super fresh, quality ingredients. I opted to pickup my pizza, and it was ready when they told me to arrive. Only a 30 minute wait on a Saturday! As everyone has noted-the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. My only hesitation to rate them 5 stars is that I'm from Chicago and the crust was more doughy and fluffy, although VERY crisp, than I'm used to. Great pizza nonetheless

BEST PIZZA EVER.... HIDDEN GEM (traveled to just about all the states, as well Europe numerous times) very unique pizza with 7 or so sauces to choose from, all ingredients are fresh and much of it is made from scratch. The owners are so great, never had friendlier service. They are open late and will try to do anything they can accommodate yours needs. If you live nearby or just traveling through this is a must go to place.

Want pizza? Want it fast and delicious?! This is for you! Absolutely the best pizza delivery, the best customer service and a all around great business. Love the pizza! Recommend the BBQ pork or pepperoni pizza. The Parmesan bites are amazing to compliment any order! If you have not tried Pepe than it is a must!

I hate to leave a review without even getting to try the food, but I'm 8 months pregnant and went to eat here and immediately see the sign of "No Public Restroom." It was early, 4pm and nobody else was in there. It smelled good but I really had to use the restroom. I asked the cashier/waitress/only person working there where the closest restroom was and she directed me to the Corner Bar. Really?! Unfortunately I couldn't stay and try the food. I asked for a take out menu and they didn't have any? When I worked at a pizza place when I was 16 we would still let customers use our restroom. She knew my husband and I were going to order something. Not like I was just there for the bathroom. Just have a baby on my bladder :)

Reminiscent of iconic California Pizza Kitchen, this pizza place is absolutely fantastic. Super friendly and fast service. Hopefully Pepe Caldo will become THE Coeur d'alene pizza place. We had the BBQ pulled pork pizza and cannot wait to try the others...not tonight... Im full. Tomorrow it is!! Thinking the Chipotle Southwestern is definitely a Wednesday Winner! Yum!

Hidden gem on 4th street in CDA. Good variety of unique and very tasty pizza options; all ingredients are fresh (most chopped/diced after you order). Owners are very friendly and accommodating.

Loved the food there and the delivery was super fast. Their Basil Pesto sauce is great and their ingredients tasted fresh. If I find myself in Couer D'Alene again I will definitely order them again if I am in the mood for pizza.

We had the Texarkana Hannah and it was absolutely delicious! It was spicy. We ordered delivery and it was within 45 minutes so the time it arrived was average for any large pizza company. Nice mom and pop shop.

Fantastic pizza and amazing family running this place. Super accommodating to our needs: we got chili sauce on our pizza and split half cheese and chicken and half chicken, spinach, and tomato. It was fantastic. The pizza is so good and the people who run this place are extremely friendly and down to earth. Will definitely come back when I'm in Coeur d'Alene.

Amazing pizza! You can tell this is handmade with love and fresh ingredients. They deliver and are very quick! They are locally owned, a mom and pop pizza place. I love to support local business and they're way better than Dominos or Pizza Hut. You won't be disappointed.

This place just sky rocketed to the top if my favorite places to eat in Coeur D'Alene. Now, like all people, I've had pizza, good pizza. This, was perfect. If you like spicy, get the Texarkana Hannah. You won't regret it, because, well... you can't. The staff, clearly a family, was relaxed, prompt, friendly, and down to earth. Couldn't ask for more. The pizza we got, Texarkana Hannah, was unique, crisp, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of bite for someone who loves spicy foods. Before the perfection, we ordered two garden salads. It was your basic garden but it was fresh, ripe, and complimented by awesome garlic Caesar dressing. Overall, best pizza I've ever had, and I don't say that kind of stuff, like, ever. Bottom line, if you are a foodie and appreciate uniqueness and fun, EAT HERE.

Amazing pizza! They have a great selection of toppings and sauces and the crust on their pizza is awesome. I have only eaten two of their specialty pizzas, the Texarkana Hannah and the N.W. Smoked Salmon, both very good, but I always end up ordering the Texarkana. I will definitely come back, by far the best pizza I've eaten.

Our first experience with Pepe Caldo all I can say is excellent. I'm from Chicago and have craved for twenty years someone who could make a good pizza In Coeur d'Alene. Found them !!!

Delish pizza. Had the creamy garlic pizza, and I'm excited to go back and try a marinara sauce pizza. The gal who made me and my boyfriend's pizza hand tossed (which is always fun to watch) the dough and she made a beautiful garnish for our pizza. The gal and her daughter were very warm and attentive and gave helpful ordering advice. The sit down area is a cool pizza parlor meets old school longboard den, very neat and comfortable and CLEAN environment. The prices are fairy reasonable for such a high quality pizza ($14 for a medium pizza plus two sodas). Will definitely go back and bring my family and turn them into Pepé converts.

After 40 minutes of waiting we get a nasty attitude from the overworked nasty ***** in the back who informs us the order isn't started yet and it's anyone's guess how long it will be.. If the pizza is good, but you spend hours waiting on the crackheads what good will that do you?!!

Horrible experience from the start. So we were expecting to arrive at a great place per the reviews, which I believe are all owner generated at this point. Location... beyond horrible. It's an old dive strip center that has minimal parking. It's located next to a pawn shop, a cash/loan store, and thrift store. We arrived to have lunch only to find they were closed with no signage on the door as to why. Some guy was explaining to someone else on the sidewalk that you never know when the owner is going to be open!

The owner is so friendly that feel like you are at your cousin's house. This is such a hardworking family, and they make great pizza and salad.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
